4 Pack Coffee Drinks

I know they don't really look like coffee... just bought a random 4 pack at walmart tonight and took a pic then started building on that with photoshop. Just discovered about 5 minutes ago there is actually places called Coffee Cat. The image is only one view point (falling asleep on my laptop...) but i will post the rest of the viewpoints with the nutrition facts and barcode later on.

I'm going to use the 4 pack I bought tonight as a template for the real deal... or i might just shrink it to half its original size cause it took forever gently taking the box apart until it was just one giant piece of paper.

Still working on the Nurtition Facts part.
I shall get started on the other sketch I made and post it later on today (possibly after 4 pm.)

UPDATED Library Week Posters

I took some of the comments into advise while working on the re-dos of the posters. Was going to save them to Art's computer like Chad asked us to but the door is locked. Guess I got here too late. Maybe tomorrow.
Like we were asked I saved the files in tiff format (for photoshop.)

Poster Black (PL2) and Poster White (IS1):

As you can see from my previous posts I tilted and increased the size of the text. Changed the typeface for the date on the top. And changed the little speech bubbles. I'm not very humorous so I just changed what they were saying in the bubbles. I will post the white poster later on (cause when i open the file on my laptop it suddenly freezes. Not sure why its doing this now but I only have a tiff file and no jpeg of it.)

The white poster I change the color of the typeface for Read so it will not blend with the hair and I changed the typeface for the date so it wouldn't disappear or blend with the background. To make the books more noticeable as books than the last poster I moved the image of books i was using around a bit. The lotus logo from our previous assignment is very tiny on the headphones to any who didn't already notice it.

National Library Week Poster

Stayed up all night working on this... Enjoy.

The poster is 36 x 24 inches. Only three colors were used (black, cyan, magenta. I was aiming for a comic-webtoon poster. Still trying to finish the second poster for independent studies.

I completely forgot to post that I posted my independent studies poster on my IS blog not this one. So just click  on the link in the above headers thing and it will take you to my IS blog, Also I tweaked this poster about an hour after I made this post to make the words pop more. And the covering of the bubbles is meant to be a joke thats why its partially covered,

Was told I should post both posters on this blog so I might get more feedback. ~(-.-)~ Here's what the 2nd post says:

I WAITED 45 MINUTES for this image to UPLOAD!!! And then it tells me the image failed cause it was too big!!! I just barely shrunk the image down to half its size so it would upload.

Reminder I have updated versions of these posters cause I worked on them some more after posting them only I haven't found the time to save them as jpeg files and post them on the web. They will be updated some more with everyone's comments taken into mind before or on monday.

Design a Logo 3

Changed the classic male Leo to a female one (subtract the mane.) Originally it was supposed to say L(lion)Argo but I decided to shorten it to something different. Aro.

Design a Logo 2

No matter what I still enjoy this logo-icon combo. The pen represents being a writer (not sure if I said this before or not...)

Design a Logo 1

Comments are appreciated. Made sure not to use opacity change in the gradual shift of color on the lotus flower. It goes from 100% black to 70% black.

FINAL Business Package Designs

Finally finished with the design. I know... no design is ever truly finished it can be improved more and more because nothing is perfect. For me, I feel the designs are not perfect but not terrible more like acceptable?

Business Package = Business Card, Envelope, Letterhead.

Business Package

Business Card using the lotus flower logo-icon.
Its a very rough draft. Still working on the layout of the info type. Since this image refuses to upload to the blog I just posted it on photobucket.

Here's the link:

Comments are much appreciated! And yes the card is in color. I have a grayscale one too but I forgot to export the image in grayscale.

I'll update this package as I work on it over the break. Its just going to be some rough "flat" sketches on photoshop using the images I have right now. For the letter and letterhead.

I made two variations of the envelope. I wasn't sure whichone was appropriate. Is it ok for the logo to be at the top or at the bottom?! I know I should already know this but i'm beginning to have my doughts (i kow i spelled that wrong but i'm super tired!)

Rose Icon

I made another flower logo icon...

D(Rose)L = my initials >.<

I wanted to try doing a flower that matched my name, Danielle Rose Largo.

The type used to be Old English but I changed it a little in illustrator so it wouldn't be a L Death Note letter anymore.

The small red rose is the reference picture I used to help me make the rose above.

Even though we were only supposed to do three sketches I wanted to try doing the Rose. I'm glad the logo-icons aren't supposed to be color.

I think I'll post the different sizes from 1/2 in to 3 inches on my sketch book. So just click on the link above marked Sketch Book!

And thanks Nat for pointing out the water droplet! I'll post the updated on later on.

Logo Icon 3

This is the last one of my icon-logos. Its not much without the calligraphy pen.
When I think of a writer I think of a pen. But a pen is too plain so I decided on a calligraphy pen.

Logo Icon 2

The black and white one is my final sketches. Not sure if anyone notices the little L shaped petal in the middle. I was recently reading way too much Ouke no Monshou (not sure if i spelled it right) which led me to try making a Lotus flower logo-icon.

Out of curiosity I looked up the meaning behind the lotus flower. Here's what I basically remembered from my very brief research:

Lotus = purity, death, and rebirth.

The pink lotus on the left is the reference picture I used to help me make the left side of my flower petals which I then reflected on the right side.

My reasoning behind the flower as a logo-icon is the symbolism of purity. Mostly 'cause a certain uncle's church says Graphic Design is impure and your selling your soul to the devil or something. I strongly disagree with that theory.

Logo Icon

I've been wanting to do this for awhile. Because its so adorable when my little kitten Wes curled into a ball on the couch. So I built this icon off a sleeping curled kitten.

I unintentionally made the curled cat icon into a D. So there is two different logo-icon combinations, the big one on the left and the little one on the bottom right.

Mardi Gras Serif and San Serif Final

The second one (San Serif) is a Geometric based one. All the letters are using a circle as their base.

I'm not sure if we were supposed to add color or not. I didn't see the post on the blog mention anything about color so its a simple black and white.

I know I'm terrible at G's ^^;

5 examples of display type

Since I can't get the computer that prints to work I decided to just post my 5 examples on the blog instead.
I had better examples from a NYC design school's student portfolio recruitment book but lost the book in my storage. I was afraid something might jump out of the boxes if I went through the mountain of boxes.

Try not to laugh...

Final Poster

I'm not sure if we were supposed to combine the illustration and text in InDesign or Ai/Ps. I admit I was spacing off trying to pick an illustration and forgot to ask Chad...

Anyways here is the FINAL MG poster. I wanted it to be tabloid but it just didn't seem to fit that way. There is two variations of this poster. Both posters are 7.5 x 11 inches.

The only noticeable differences is the backgrounds. Don't ask why circles? I just felt like putting circles.

Just be glad I didn't go crazy and make a sparkle effect in the background ^^ how I would've accomplished that I'm not sure.
Maybe I should've put MG beads instead of the circles but then it would draw attention away from the jester. Maybe it draws too much attention away already?! Should I lighten the green?!

Thanks again to Michelle Eriacho for the jester illustration!

PISSED OFF

Excuse any cussing from this point on...
SOME FREAKING ASSHOLE STOLE MY FREAKING USB!!!!
I left my USB plugged into the computer in the smaller lab on Thursday (today) from 12 - 1:30 pm with all my files for Page Layout open cause i was still working on them. Now I don't have any back ups of any of y files and have to start from scratch!!!!
I know I'm an idiot for trusting my stuff being safe in the lab. But if anyone sees this USB (picture shown below) can you check it for me. Please and thank you. I named the USB "Snail2."

p.s. I'm going to be late with the Mardi Gras assignment cause I have to start over from the beginning using the posters I posted earlier.

Mid-process Poster

Here's a mid process MG poster.
The original illustration was black, white, grey and red. It was very theater-ish and not very Mardi Gras.

Thanks Mitch! This is one of Mitch's illustrations of a jester.

I'm still working on using the other two jesters for a variation of the poster.

Quick question: Answer honestly! Is the back ground too much with the dots?

Here's a redesign of the original file I was doing. It has the lobo colors (I think.)

Sketch 2

This 2nd sketch has no color at the moment. I'm sure I can integrate someone's illustration into the poster. >.< at least I hope so... This poster's inspiration is Hunchback of Norte Dame's Feast of Fools Festival ^^; I just couldn't get that one puppeteer guy's song out of my head.

Sadly I didn't add color to this one. It's not very informative too.

Rough Type

This is an extremely rough draft! I'm not sure on the color just yet so i left it black and white. The smaller text is similar but not as curly. This was the most decorative type out of the three. Its also the only one i found "eye catching."

Sorry about my lateness.

Yeah, this is my first sketch. The colors aren't exactly right at the moment but I'm going to change them later to match whichever Illustration someone else has. This is poster-ish text layout.

The second sketch below it I skewed the text. No I didn't rasterize the text or anything. I made the Mardi Gras text using the pen tool with a few tweaks here and there from its original form. This one is small flyer text layout.

I only used two colors (might be three if you count white.) Also limited my typefaces to two.

Here goes Round 1!!!

I've been told that we (DDM students) need to take Page Layout 2 TWICE! Hence my blog title Round 1 (mainly to due with playing too many fighting games when I made the blog >.<)
Anyways, here's my blog for Page Layout 2. I'll post my rough sketches on here from now on.
