Rough Type

This is an extremely rough draft! I'm not sure on the color just yet so i left it black and white. The smaller text is similar but not as curly. This was the most decorative type out of the three. Its also the only one i found "eye catching."

Sorry about my lateness.

Yeah, this is my first sketch. The colors aren't exactly right at the moment but I'm going to change them later to match whichever Illustration someone else has. This is poster-ish text layout.

The second sketch below it I skewed the text. No I didn't rasterize the text or anything. I made the Mardi Gras text using the pen tool with a few tweaks here and there from its original form. This one is small flyer text layout.

I only used two colors (might be three if you count white.) Also limited my typefaces to two.

  1. Now this was worth the wait. great start and the color amount and hues are a great choice for the title. defiantly has the organic feel with the words of "Mardi Gras". However, you can try to add the organic feel for the beginning letter for "M, "D" and "I". it seems a bit left out and lonely compared to the rest of the title. Do leave out the time and date titles out of the picture and keep the information as detailed as possible for the poster. Other than that, the title is great, the information colors flow with the title. Now concentrate on the placement and the flow of the text with your information and title. Great start, keep at it.

  2. The top layout is good. Probably just make the lower part with the date and time and place slightly larger.

  3. The colors could use some darkening, to make it pop more. They kind of disappear with the white. The yellow text is also disappearing really fast compared to the purple and yellow letters. Great letters by the way, liked that compounded section in the R and A. The date is also important so make them slightly bigger.

  4. Nice! I like the font & layouts that you have. Simple yet festive. My suggestion would be to darken some of the colors to make it bolder which will give it more of that Mardi Gras feel.
